“I've been working for McAfee for 6 years. I started as a Channel Account Manager, looking after a large territory and focussed on developing the Channel and supporting the SMB and Enterprise Reps.

After 2 years I moved into Field Sales in the same territory, only this time I worked from a home office, looking after Enterprise Customers with more than 1000 nodes. I'm still doing this role today and thanks to the excellent range of products we have to sell our customers; I've been very successful. What's more if I was to move overseas, I know that career progression really could be limitless.

If I had to describe the qualities you need to succeed here, I'd say – commitment, honesty, integrity, passion and patience. I've been with McAfee for over five years. I originally started with Network Associates in 2001 as the sole provider supporting the Magic Helpdesk solution and migrated to a Technical Account Manager position with the McAfee group. Over a period of time I became a Team Leader for the Platinum APAC TAM group and transitioned to a Senior Technical Account Manager role, which is the job function that I currently perform today.

Throughout this time the working relationships that were created with my clients have actually turned into friendships. And this is the ultimate reward for me. Gaining their trust makes my job so much easier in terms of getting the best out of me and also getting the best out of them.

And this culture of trust, friendship and PEOPLE focus is what I love about working here. In my team, we consider each other as FRIENDS rather than work colleagues and these strong relationships have helped to create a healthy working environment, where access to support and specialist knowledge enables everyone to grow their knowledge and technical skills. Everyone is encouraged to progress. I then left Australia to live in London for 4 years where I worked as the New Media Marketing Manager for Thameslink and as a consultant Event Manager. I finished my Europe stint and came back to Sydney where I worked for PeopleSoft as their Event Manager and in 2005 I started my role at McAfee as a Marketing Manager for ANZ and APAC Partners.

The people in the office are all motivated to generate growth for McAfee but have fun at the same time. It's a great working atmosphere and we get the best of both worlds, because it's like working for a small company – friendly, not overly stuffy or corporate, with the opportunity to make decisions on new strategies – but we also have the backing of a respected global brand and support from head office to leverage campaigns and ideas.

I love the Flexibility to create and execute campaigns, the ability to work across all areas of the marketing mix and operate closely with the sales team and channel partners. “After graduating from the Computer Science department of University of British Columbia in Canada, I headed off to the Bay Area, California to start my career as a programmer on Java applications.

I spent 4.5 years in the valley doing development roles with different development platforms and performed a consulting service for one of the largest banks in San Francisco. Eventually, I moved back to Hong Kong and became a project manager in a System Integrator, before joining McAfee as a Security Engineer. Here, I learnt all about security related technologies, became a security advisor to McAfee customers, and last year, succeeded in becoming a leader in the Greater China team, which liaises between local SEs community and the APAC regional group. I've now been with McAfee for 2.5 years.

The SE community, by its very nature, is a hybrid of Sales and Engineers. A dynamic bunch of people, with different traits and facets to meet different situations, we get to have hands-on experience with the most innovative technologies developed or acquired by McAfee before anyone else in the company knows about it.

I really enjoy working here. Initially my role here was to launch IPS products with my colleagues and I successfully won a lot of important deals. Last year, I introduced Foundstone into the Korean Market, and closed a big deal worth of USD 400K.
